Update: Stuck in Chicago

My little 1 hour flight from Columbus to Chicago then on to Reno is now on it's 4th hour, and maybe we'll get out in another 2.

Fun stuff!

(And Ellen ... I certainly could go there ;-)

This airport wireless is really, really cool!

OK. New plan.

We are delayed overnight, but now it is going to be in San Fran. If only I were a party animal. ;-)

I am hanging out with Charles. He is a prison counselor with quite a story, and a great brother in the Lord. So far the trip is a great blessing.

Now, if I could just get hold of Mom to let her know that I am not going to be in Reno today....

SFO...been there, done that...

Dinner on the pier is fun, there's a little place that looks like a gazebo - has the BEST bread bowl soups.

Or Bubba Gumps.

;-)

I love San Fran! The song is in my head now. :-} Glad you're making the best of it. {I hope you're flying the right airlines. ;-}

My social life was one of the things I gave up in the divorce. I will be going to the closest, most reasonable cafe to the hotel.

I know. It's such a waste.

I console myself with the fact that I am running on way too little sleep, and I've done SF three times. Those were much better.

Codepoke,
I'd do the same thing after traveling.
LOL,

My computer freaked for a moment. I had to reboot. I was forced to anonymously post and couldn't check my mail. Odd thing.

As I was saying enjoy your trip.

NO! NO! NO! There is so much to see in SanFrancisco....and so many great restaurants..

last time I was there I spent 2hours waiting for a seat at this fabulous place in Chinatown and it was SO worth the wait..I wish I could think of the name...

come on Codepoke. Even Jesus knew how to party!

oh I get it now. I was too late, you are headed to Reno. sorry!

Apparently, you and I have different definitions of "fun."

Hey Kevin..great to meet you on the plane today. Now I have an idea of what a blog is. Familyhood Church reminds me of Jeremiah 31:34: "No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying,"Know the Lord," because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest." What about the Middle East? What can we do?

Right back atcha, friend.

I made two friends on the trip, entirely due to the weather problems. Very cool. Best ruined trip I have ever had!

Ah, the problems in the Middle East. There was a day I would have known the answer. Heaven help anyone who believed me, but I would have known it. ;-)

These days, I am not sure even what the real provocation is, much less what the real answer is. My sympathies lie with Israel. I want to believe that they are taking wise steps to protect the only honest government in the region - their own. I just don't know for sure whether that is the case.

I don't know how we would fare if Canada, Cuba and Mexico all decided that we were best pushed into the sea.

Andreia,

On my last trip to SF my boss and I wandered into a little hole-in-the-wall joint in Chinatown in which ~0 english was spoken. They had this thing on the menu where they cooked your food, and then put it into a pre-heated clay pot. When it got to the table, it was in a full, rolling boil.

I had no real idea what I had ordered, but I'm cool with that. It turned out to be Chinese chitlins. Excellent! And I left completely filled - which is a rarity for me.

I think Jesus would have been much happier at a party than I am. WWJD only takes me so far. ;-)

DK (and Andreia, and Milly),

Just for giggles, try to guess the denomination of the anonymous friend I met on the last flight...

Hint.

I have an inkling now that the phrase "He was in Boston..." means more than I had gathered it meant.

Oh, I suppose I should mention that I did finally get to Reno 30 hours after starting west, and that we immediately hopped in the car for the 8 hour drive to Granny's (yes, there were mountains and woods along the way.)

We made it just after sunset, and found out that the power was out. It was pretty great. I love it when a plan falls apart. :-D

Are you tell us our plan to take over is working? (Milly throws her head back and laughs) ICOC and COC's will rule the world!) A no victory dancing please. You know where that leads. ;-)

My guess is that he is (or at least was) a part of the great Boston Church of Christ!

If I am right, it would be really cool if I knew him, too.

Kevin Knox said...

I believe it was ICOC. Now that I am outnumbered so badly, I really have no excuse for not understanding the difference (and if I don't understand the difference it's awfully easy to forget which abbreviation is which.)

They were not in Boston, but genuinely jealous of you, DK.

And Milly, it's rude to dance the dance then tell everyone else they'd best not. ;-)

Milly said...

Codepoke,
I wasn't sure of the differences so I asked Danny Kaye. He has it somewhere on his site. I was told that the ICOC is more doctrinal. Shocking for me to hear given our rep. I was also told that it was stricter in how you live then COC. Danny could explain ICOC and dispel the rumors I’ve heard. I tend to be a sceptic when it comes from people who don’t know first hand. There is also the United COC they are way different, my brother and his family attend one. They encourage same sex marriage for homosexuals and have several other different beliefs then we do.

Kevin Knox said...

Thank you, Milly.

I went out and read upon on ICOC and a little about COC on Wikipedia. Maybe now I will be able to keep up with some of the little COCisms youz guys use.

I also read up on the Israeli-Lebanon crisis. Anon actually asked what "we" could "do." That is a really tough question. Still no answers there, but Wikipedia did a really good job of laying out the disputes and actions taken in response to them by both sides.

DANCING!!!!
So you've noticed those of us in the booth moving about. It helps us to keep in tune with the sound. That's it. . . really it is.. . . . If you have a baby you can really work those moves. Then when the baby is too big you must go back to the Frozen Chosen. ;-}

Kevin Knox said...

Oh yeah. If it keeps the baby asleep, you can dance a tango. ;-)

Codepoke,

Here is the post that Milly spoke about. it is written from my experiences and understanding. If it will help you to understand what I was (and still am) a part of, check it out.

So, Charles wasn't from the Boston ministry? But he was jealous that I was? I am super-encouraged that after all the "stuff" that happened, there are still people who feel that way about Boston. It was a fantastic ministry in which to become a Christian!

Thank you...for the memories. They keep flooding back. I got a feeling this is going to be an emotional day!

(By the way, does Charles have a last name? I understand if you don't want to leave it here. But if you are so inclined to do so, you could email it to me. But I totally understand if you are uncomfortable with that.)
