The Campaign for Real Beauty has put a video out there that shows, not just the before and after of a girl modelling makeup, but how they take her there. It's a must see. No wonder our images of beauty are so distorted.
Every Westerner should know what he or she is looking at when looking at one of these women.

I’m not a big Dr. Phil watcher but as I surfed one day he had a teens who wanted plastic surgery on the show. They wanted to be the beautiful models. He pointed out that he knew Heidi Klum and she is a beautiful woman but those shots are airbrushed and things. In the right hands we could all look like models. It’s not just girls now the guys are struggling with how they look.
I talked to my husband about having my face done he looked at me and asked what was wrong with my face. Not a thing in his eyes.
CP,
wow! That's pretty ummm.... sad.

I was already pretty informed on the subject, having raised a daughter and done some research into the subject. What I didn't know was just how blatant the photoshopping is.
The key lesson is that every time the advertiser catches our eye, with ANY image, it's a lie. The photoshopping done to that picture is done according to a straight scientific formula, calculated to catch attention. It's as bad as corking a bat, stealing the catcher's signals, or sanding the ball before a pitch.
They deserve our disdain, not our patronage.
