To unify, or not to unify?"

CP, I think I would agree with Salgoud's statement. (possibly we are from the same "denom"?) Drawing a line in the sand, whether from a positive perspective or not, is still drawing a line. A creed is simply a statement that defines who is excluded.

I see unity with believers as an essential ingredient to my growth in Christ. But, I see unity with man (believer or no) the example set by Christ.

To me, unity is not doctrinal agreement or even a common belief in Christ. I believe it occurs whenever two (or more!) people begin caring for one another more than they care for themselves.

To answer your question, unity is at the heart of the scriptures, but not in the way my church tends to define it.Missyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16638784910676212171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20104292.post-51598287997773850242007-04-08T23:53:00.000-04:002007-04-08T23:53:00.000-04:00This is me avoiding how to figure out how to save ...This is me avoiding how to figure out how to save my son’s movie for school onto a cd with the program he used.

Yes
For example say you think that all elephants should be pink because that’s what they have always been. I have no problem with elephants because why not it doesn’t say they aren’t allowed but I read it that all of the elephants should be purple. We may both think that the elephants are ok but we are now splitting big hairs. They are that big because we have made them that big. So in one way we are united yet when it comes down to it we just can’t completely unite.

It’s a sad prognoses for those of us that want to be more united but let’s face it we have elephants.

(Like me bringing the pachyderms back in and using Millyisms? Helpful for my weekend angst.salguodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14707268782911156269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20104292.post-8293200226024466662007-04-08T20:00:00.000-04:002007-04-08T20:00:00.000-04:00Thanks, all. I was so bored, I actually set a new record for Minesweeper (Intermediate - 106. I set Advanced - 502 many, many moons ago.)

At the same time, I was so affected by stuff, I needed to write.

I would mention how odd that is, but I remember that I'm talking about me. Oh well.

WF - Thank you for mulling, but don't leave me hanging. I'll find myself trying to figure the implications for all 8 positions on this little post, and we all know it ain't worth all that. :-)

Missy - Where do you come down in that argument? To unify, or not to unify?

Milly - If I understand you correctly, you are saying that once sides are chosen, they are seldom broken, right?Kevin Knoxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16788817477327510023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20104292.post-27078284339505056602007-04-07T23:53:00.000-04:002007-04-07T23:53:00.000-04:00Unity is often looked at for two sides. Welcome back!

I'm still mulling over some of the implications, I don't want you to think I just saw you back and was happy and then stopped without reading the piece; I read it. But you know me, I like to mull.

My Dad always told me that if you can't see all the sides of an issue, you don't really understand it.
